OPEN CALL: Exploring the landscapes of Bavarian independent performing arts
Join us from 11 to 15 October 2024 for an immersive encounter with the Bavarian independent arts scene!
In 2022, the Czech and Bavarian Association of Independent Theatres (AND CR and VFDKB) established a unique platform designed to bridge two neighboring artistic communities. Despite their close geographical proximity and shared challenges, these cultural environments have remained largely invisible to one another. Yet, both boast a wealth of resources, including vibrant performance spaces, artist residencies, festivals, and discursive platforms, offering countless opportunities for collaboration. The Bavarian-Czech Platform (BCP) aims to pave the way for new connections, spark curiosity about neighboring artistic landscapes, and nurture the foundation for future cross-border projects.
One of the BCP's key initiatives involves organizing exploratory trips to neighboring regions—and we invite you to join us on the next one!
WHO CAN APPLY?
This call is open to all professionals working in the independent sector, including curators, dramaturgs, producers, managers, and others. Artists seeking to expand their networks and build new relationships are also warmly encouraged to apply.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Visits to theatres and cultural centres, focusing on smaller towns and residential hubs in rural areas.
- Insights into the operations of the Bavarian independent performing arts scene.
- Individual networking opportunities tailored to your personal plans and needs.
- Guided city walks and some free time for personal exploration.
- An evening performance at the Rodeo showcase festival in Munich.
- Participation in the Munich symposium on contemporary issues in the independent arts sector.
WE COVER
- Travel costs (including group travel by van from Prague, with train/bus options for participants living outside Prague).
- Accommodation, including breakfast.
- Tickets for performances and a small fee to cover daily expenses (lunch, dinner, public transport).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Participation in the entire expedition is the only requirement.
SCHEDULE
- Application deadline: 20 June 2024.
- Results announced: 30 June 2024.
- Trip dates: 11 to 15 October 2024.
